ETEP designs and manufactures rugged airborne and ground recording systems: units that must fit in a cockpit or a rack, hold vibration and temperature, and be wired without error. The mechanical department draws them, from the enclosure and the front panel to the cable harness, and follows their production.

We are opening a position of CAD design technician to carry the mechanical and cabling design of our equipment. The position is open as a permanent contract, and also to an apprentice or an intern in mechanical design who wants to learn on products that really fly.

What you will do

  • Technical feasibility studies of quotations and development of new projects, from the customer specification to the drawings.
  • Mechanical design in SolidWorks: enclosures, mounting, general-arrangement and detailed drawings, with the standardisation of assemblies and sub-assemblies in mind.
  • Drawings of onboard and laboratory cable harnesses, cabling layout of airborne and ground units, placement of connectors and accessories on the front and rear panels.
  • Ergonomic study of the equipment and its human-machine interface: what the operator sees and handles.
  • Assembly, cabling and integration of prototypes and first units with production; follow-up of the technical tests.
  • Follow-up of internal and external production lead times; selection of mechanical suppliers, orders, incoming inspection of parts.
  • Participation in design reviews; change control; handling of mechanical non-conformities; decisions on rework, repair, scrap or acceptance as is.
  • Technology, regulatory and standards watch on components and processes; occasional help to other departments (repair, board testing).

What you bring

  • A two-year technical degree or a professional bachelor in mechanical design (product design, industrial CAD) or the equivalent experience; for an apprenticeship or an internship, the same training in progress.
  • Command of SolidWorks, and the taste for a drawing that is right the first time.
  • Ease with the everyday tools of a design office: project follow-up, office suite, an ERP.
  • Sharp technical skills, an eye for detail and rigour: a harness drawn wrong is a unit that comes back.
  • Technical English, to read a datasheet and a customer specification.
