A mission recorder lives in the production aircraft. It has to be light, line-replaceable, last for years and hand back its data minutes after landing. Debriefing, maintenance and training all depend on that routine holding.

THE PROBLEM
A test recorder is tended by engineers; a mission recorder is handled by whoever turns the aircraft round. Everything about it follows from that difference.
The data has to come out fast and without tools: a removable SSD, a replay that opens straight away, no conversion step that only one person knows how to run.
Mass, volume and power are fixed by the aircraft; the unit must be a line-replaceable item, qualified once, and still supported when the fleet is fifteen years older than the recorder.
Bus traffic, video and voice from an operational flight are not neutral. Removable media, access control and a genuine secure erase are part of the recorder, not options to add later.

It depends on the streams: bus traffic alone runs for days on the smallest SSD, HD video fills storage in hours. We size the medium to the mission profile, and the SSD is removable so a spare turns the aircraft round in a minute.
Recordings open natively in D.T.MUX Viewer and export to IRIG 106 Chapter 10 with D.T.MUX Converter, so your existing analysis tools keep working. Video comes out as standard files.
The medium is removable and the recorder offers a secure erase, so the aircraft can be left without data on board. Encrypted mission storage is available where the operator requires it.
